            Runners                       1 – 5 Gap  = 2:44         5th place  (16 pts behind Johnson)  Must beat them!!

BY THE NUMBERS:              Girls -  Cynthia ran determined from the start and only slowed 1:23 on mile 2.  Cynthia needs to run in the top 10 from now on.  Get use to it!!  Other girls “suffered” on mile 2.  WHY??  Hannah pressed the 1st mile pretty aggressively and struggled on 2.  Jena ran on bum knees but showed great determination.  Everybody should learn from Jena’s “GUTS”.  Sam ran within a minute of her 1st mile time.  Nice.  Trinity and Hannah were 2 minutes off their 1st mile times.

Guys – Dustin ran where he needed to and reclaimed his superiority over some key opponents.  Peopled noticed.  Jesus struggled on the hills, especially mile 2, but did recover on mile 3.  Randy ran his typical “paced” race but needs to believe in a faster mile 1.  Matthew ran his best race of the year and needs to find a consistency from race to race.  Jordan found mile 2 challenging but recovered on 3.  Collin must pace better.  Mile 1 cost him the rest of the way.  Kyler also struggle on mile 2 but recovered to finish STRONG.  Probably the best races go to both Matthew Mastel and Arthur.  Compared to Ulysses (hills and heat) they bettered their times by 1:05 and 1:45 respectively.  Gentlemen, the GAP doesn’t lie.  We must be near the 2:00 Gap to make this work.  Also, every place counts.  Not just Johnson runners.  If there are 2 or 3 runners near your finish, YOU MUST BEAT THEM.  No one can pass you in the finishing stretch.  NO ONE.  That’s how we’ll make it to Wamego.  It takes determination, courage and the ability to find that last gear near the end.  YOU CAN DO IT!

COACHES COMMENTS:     I was pleased with everyone’s effort.  We do need to run smarter.  By now you should know how you will run best.  But, you must have the discernment to go out and run that way.  You can’t get “caught up” in the moment.  Run with patient endurance the race set before you.  You will persevere.

                                                                                    Keep the Faith,
