Model U.N. is a simulation of the actual United Nations. It takes place at Fort Hays State University each November. High school students from across the state of Kansas come to Hays to participate in the debates and political discussions. Each student will attend as a delegate from a country they were assigned. Students must research their country in order to then attempt to pass resolutions that will benefit their country. The Model U.N. has three branches represented at Hays. Those branches are the General Assembly, the Security Council, and the Economic and Social Council.
